Puppy Kindergarten

$150 / 6 week session

Sessions meet weekly on the same day & time for 1 hour. 

This 6 week class has flexible enrollment for puppies at least 8 weeks old and not yet 16 weeks old when the class begins.  The focus is to teach owners early puppy training and care in a happy, positive way.  Puppies will have a great time playing with other puppies and learning social skills necessary to be a good pet.  Each owner will also have the opportunity to handle each of the puppies in class in order to provide the puppies with essential socialization with humans.  An introduction to leash work and basic commands will also be taught.

Beginner Obedience 1

$150 / 6 week session

Sessions meet weekly on the same day & time for 1 hour. 

This 6 week course is designed for dogs over 16 weeks of age.  The focus of this class will be to teach owners to train their dogs using low stress positive reinforcement training techniques.  Skills taught are the basics of good behavior – sit, lie down, stay, wait, come when called, heeling on a leash without pulling and more.

Intermediate Obedience 2

$150 / 6 week session

Sessions meet weekly on the same day & time for 1 hour. 

This 6 week course is for dogs that have graduated from the Beginner Obedience 1 class.  The focus in this class will be to increase the reliability of the skills taught in the Beginner class, having the dogs perform these skills in increasingly more distracting situations.  New skills, such as beginning off lead work, jumping, retrieving and clicker training, will also be introduced.  Skills will be taught using a variety of group exercises and individual exercises.

Competition Obedience – Novice/Open

$150 / 6 week session

Sessions meet weekly on the same day & time for 1 hour. 

This class is designed for those owners wanting to train towards eventual participation and showing in obedience trials, although anyone who has completed the Intermediate Obedience 2 class may join this class.  Training in both off and on lead heeling will be continued, with the emphasis on increased attention and engagement by the dog with the handler.  The exercises performed in the Novice and Open levels of competition (including all basic commands, Figure 8 work, distraction work, heeling on and off lead, stand for exam, retrieving on the flat as well as over jumps, straight recalls as well as drop on recalls, etc.) will be introduced and trained in this class.  Handling techniques for the ring will also be taught, always with the intent of keeping the fun in training for both the owner and the dog.

Competition Obedience – Open/Utility

$150 / 6 week session

Sessions meet weekly on the same day & time for 1 hour. 

This class is designed for dog and handler teams who are interested in training at the more advanced levels of obedience competition.  Participants must have experience showing at the Novice level of competition before coming into this class.  Dogs must be reliable off leash, and be able to focus on their handler in a distracting training environment.  Exercises at the Open and Utility level of obedience competition will be taught.  In addition to those exercises listed previously, off lead heeling and signal work, scent articles, moving stand for exam, directed retrieves and directed jumping will be introduced.  Distractions, focus and engagement during an exercise will be emphasized.

Rally Obedience Workshops

$80 / 3 hr. workshop

These workshops are for graduates of the Intermediate Obedience and Competition classes.  Rally workshops will be designed to teach the specific skills at each level of the American Kennel Club’s Rally competitions.  All exercises will be described, with ample time to practice each in conjunction with course work to give a complete idea of what a fun sport this can be.  This is also a great class to continue your dog’s education regardless of your competition plans.
